Latex 101 is growing. Following our recent launches of innovative products, which are setting the agenda in fetish fashion, we’re recruiting for a new member of our small team, based out of our workshop in West Lothian, between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
We will consider anybody for the position, you do not have to have experience in the art, adult, fashion, or fetish industries or in making latex clothing, but if you do have any of this experience, your application will be more favourably considered.
What’s the job?
We need another full time member of our team of makers.
Initially, not all of your duties will involve making. There is lots to do around here. Duties will include:
- Preparing orders to be posted
- General administration
- Product Research
- Managing stock (counting and making lists)
- Loading and unloading of stock and getting our stand ready for fairs
Everyone in our company is also expected to sell at some of the fairs we attend around the country. There will be some travel at weekends.
If you have some technical artwork / computing skills (e.g. Photoshop) we will put those to good use, including:
- Designing new textures for our Textured Latex
- Preparing artwork for our website and social media
- Working with our digital cutting machinery
If you have some fashion / pattern-making skills or experience, we will put those to good use including:
- Designing and creating pattern blocks for new garments
- Creating patterns for customer custom orders
For someone with no or limited making experience, progress will be slow. If you’re starting from ground zero, it will take a while to learn what we need, and your expectation should be set early that you will not be making catsuits within a few months.
Our aim is to have everyone on our making team able to produce complete garments and accessories of varying levels of complexity. Our training plan for a new maker and indeed for using a maker with existing skills reflects our relentless and fanatical attitude to quality. We start simple, and work up from there. These things take time. As quality and complexity of what you can make improves, there will be more and bigger challenges.
The money bit.
We are looking for a full time employed member of our team but we would consider applications from someone looking for part time work if that part time work includes working at least 4 days a week and for a minimum of 30 hours per week. We would also consider applications from experienced freelancers looking for additional work, where that work takes place with us in West Lothian.
If you’re starting out with our general duties and learning to make, we pay at least 15% above the minimum wage, and we commit to regular reviews based on your improving skills. There is often paid overtime available when we are busy or getting ready for big events. We also have a bonus scheme to reward commitment, hard work, improving skills and successful company performance. If you bring existing relevant skills and experience and can hit the ground running and drive us forward, then earnings are more negotiable.
